The island of Tar Valon, seat of Aes Sedai power since time immemorial, is situated on a diamond-shaped island in the middle of the River Erinnin. The island is longest north to south, stretching about five miles. It is only two miles wide east-to-west at its widest point. The White Tower is located on grounds in the center of the island, surrounded by a large, square plaza. The sketch of a map below provides an outline of the diamond shape to the island.
