A person afflicted with the wither spell will find their flesh decaying before his very eyes. The initial strike is negligible, striking for only 1-10 points of damage. For the next two rounds, the victim will experience excruciating pain. If struck by another wither spell before the magical disease can run its course, the withering will linger for even longer.
