Fool's gold, or pyrite as it's also known, is a common mineral of a pale brass-yellow color and brilliant metallic luster. It has been often used to create counterfeit money, and resembles real gold so much that only experts can tell it apart from the real thing. Such experts include shopkeepers and people who previously have handled counterfeit money. Paying with forged money is a risky business, and anyone caught will be severely frowned upon by the general populace. Those caught often find themselves on the receiving end of a serious beating as well.
