Counterspell is a very effective spell against most magic users. The spell temporarily dissolves an enemy's connection to the plane of magic, making it impossible to cast any spells. The counterspell only lasts a brief six seconds, but it's so exhausting to cast that its caster can't repeat the feat for a full minute. It's also worth noting that extremely powerful magicians know more than one way to connect to the magic plane, and this spell will therefore not affect them.
